Late this evening, the Caterpillars and I loaded into the truck for the start of our week-long visit to see my Granddaddy in Mississippi.
Growing up, and even until after my oldest was born, I saw him 3 or 4 times a year, minimum. In High School and College it was much more often. My Granddaddy is the one who helped me drive around to look at colleges, and encouraged my love of Civil War battlefields by taking me to every one he could find. We haven't seen him since February of 2007, so I've been eager for a trip!
Queen and I had Girl Scouts for Princess tonight, so we weren't on the road out of town until after 7 p.m. As you can see, the Caterpillars were excited to be on their way.
We drove an hour before stopping for food at "the prettiest McDonald's in the world" to quote B10. They had some of the nicest people ever, also.
CW managed to eat 10 chicken nuggets. If he grows feathers tomorrow - I know why!
We made it to Alabama in good time, and then both Caterpillars were out like lights.Luckily, I was able to get them upstairs to our hotel room around 11:30 p.m. I'm trying not to push it, and get plenty of sleep tonight!
See how much more comfortable they look in a bed?
I hope tomorrow's travels are as happy!
