Big Changes!

GO has had a couple of big changes today.

First, Cookie and I finally found her a swing! This one rocks side to side like a cradle, but you can turn it to swing back and forth in either direction. VERY COOL!

She loves it already. Especially the little lambs that rotate above her head. Now, hopefully, we can progress to me sleeping in a bed again.

Second, the doctor told us to try her on rice cereal, just a little bit at dinnertime. He hoped that it would help fill her tummy and let her sleep a little longer than 2 hours at a stretch.

She also enjoyed the new taste. She actually would open her mouth wide and wait for me to put the cereal in. She didn't get very messy at all.

B10 and CW thought it was so funny to watch her open her mouth like a little bird. (I can't wait until she's old enough for them to help feed her.)

ACK! She's growing up already! MAKE HER STOP!

My Little Helper

One of the reasons Cookie needed to go to BooSheep's today was so we could sort out our old My Little Pony toys. All of the things are from the early 1980's, but still in pretty good condition.

BooSheep and I divided the ponies and houses up (I got 3 Mummy Ponies, 3 Baby Ponies and the Stable), but I wanted to give them all a nice bath/wipe down before putting them away.

And I knew just the person to help me!

I gave Queen a call, and a few minutes later I was picking up Princess. She did a great job of gently brushing the Pony manes, bathing them with a soft toothbrush and soapy water and wiping down the plastic buildings.

I'm so glad I had such a great Little Helper for the Little Ponies.

Happy Two Months!

Baby Sheep and GO had their two month "birthday" on Saturday and we drove out today with Cookie to visit them.

BooSheep had an outfit in two sizes (one that Baby Sheep had outgrown) so we dressed the girls alike for pictures.

CW kept asking if we could tell them apart...

Baby Sheep kept staring at GO who would let out a huge scream, then cry until someone picked her up. I think she was a bit overwhelmed.

Little Sheep just enjoyed having B10 and CW to play with!

And Cookie enjoyed getting to take a picture with all the grandkids at once.

Young Astronauts' Day - Part Two

This morning we woke up early (the Caterpillars got out of bed at 6:45 a.m.) and went down to the free breakfast.

They did a wonderful job of being happy and overall pleasant, even though it was early in the day. After breakfast we packed up and then they waited in the lobby with GO while I pulled the truck around (it was raining heavily).

We drove to the Air Base, where I loaded GO in her sling and we ran through the rain to the main hanger. I checked them into their flights, then we walked around a bit - exploring the booths set up.

The boys loved playing at this station:

Their Flight Leader was excellent and I left them in good hands as GO and I went to find some way to occupy our day.

My idea was to drive to a local state park, but the rain nixed that idea. I ended up driving to the local mall and napping for a bit, before GO decided to poo all over both of us.

I did not take a picture of the wailing baby girl when she was in my lap dressed in nothing but her fuzzy socks as I cleaned her off. I'm a good mother like that. ;)

For lunch I found a local pizza chain - which had fountain Cherry Coke (my second favorite drink in the world) and hot breadsticks.

Then GO was perfect and slept while I went to the movies and saw "Taken" (I give it 4 stars).

We headed back to base to pick them up at the end of the day, driving home in the rain (which wasn't overly bad, but not great either). B10 was thrilled when he got home to see CW and Hubby.

We finished our special day/weekend by going as a family to see "Monsters vs. Aliens" (I give it 4 stars, also). I can't wait until next year's day, when CW will be old enough to come with us!

Young Astronauts' Day - Part One

Way back in January, when we went to Warner Robins AFB with the Cub Scouts, B10 saw a flyer for an event called "Young Astronauts' Day". He really wanted to go, so I signed him and one of his friends up. They get to meet a real astronaut and rotate through 4 different classes.

Today was the big day - I picked up J from school (quite an experience for B10) and we headed down south. (Of course, GO was with us!) My goal was to spend the night in a hotel with an indoor pool, so it would be a big treat for both boys.

We drove a little over two hours before stopping for dinner. It was J's first time at a Cracker Barrel - **gasp** - both enjoyed cheeseburgers and playing checkers next to the fireplace.

From there, we were only about 20-30 minutes away from our hotel. We quickly changed into our swimsuits and headed to the pool.

Even GO had a little swimsuit! It was pretty busy, with two large families there, so she never got in the water, but she was dressed to impress!

I told the boys we could only stay until she began to get fussy, which was almost two hours!

We met a little girl at the pool, she was fascinated by GO. She would swim for a few minutes, then come and want to touch GO's toes and tell me how tiny they were. She was quite adorable.

GO ended up falling asleep for almost 45 minutes - she actually found her thumb all by herself and put herself to sleep. :D

By the time we got back to the room, everyone was getting tired. The boys took baths and while I was bathing GO, they watched Ben10 (one of the two cartoons I actually let my Caterpillars watch, mainly because B10 gets a kick out of almost sharing a name with the character).

Everyone is snuggled in their beds now. It's my hope that GO will continue to sleep here (where she is right now - the black "box" is her Eddie Bauer travel bed, very handy!):

But I'm prepared to move here if necessary:

I'm off to bed, 6:30 am is going to come very early...and who knows how GO will sleep tonight!

New Pets

I'm pleased to introduce our newest pets.

Moses:

And Joshua:

Moses is a lovely Leopard Gecko, while Joshua is a Handsome Fat-tailed Gecko (both are boys, as their names indicate).

They are rescue animals, saved from a loving home - but one that was no longer able to care for them. The "owners" were going to just throw them outside (not a good idea for these critters).

Instead, we've set up a special place in the Caterpillars Room to house them.

And except for the minor "cricket" escape (Bathsheba found them and knocked over the cricket house), we've been doing very well.

B10 is especially excited about finally having his own cold-blooded creatures to love!

Easter Pictures

It's a little early, but my "goal" for myself was to mail out Easter Cards with up-to-date pictures of the Caterpillars next Monday.

To do this, I needed to take the pictures and get the cards made today. Mum helped me get everyone dressed and I think they came out great!

Plus, Walgreens makes it super-easy to design your own card, not to mention they're quick. I had the cards by 2 pm the same day (and they include envelopes).

Now I just have to find time to address them all!

Planting Flowers

I rarely seem to blog about my little Daisies, which is sad - because I adore them very much and have had a great time this year spending Monday evenings with them.

They are getting ready to bridge and I'll have a Daisy/Brownie Troop very soon. So today, we learned about flowers and how flowers need each other (just like little girls!).

I love being outside with the girls, so we actually planted flowers this week. Queen helped me purchase the stuff early this morning, then we shoveled dirt out of the trunk of my truck, while little girls ran around and laughed.

It was possibly the perfect meeting!

Achieving Rank

This Sunday during our Pack Meeting both B10 and CW were awarded their rank badges. This is a pretty big deal and is the culmination of all the hard work the caterpillars have done all year long.

CW is now officially a "Tiger" - we put the Tiger badges in orange balloons and the boys got to pop them with tiny plastic swords!

B10 is now a "Bear" - the Cubmaster and Assistant Cubmaster did a "going on a bear hunt" skit to bring us all up and present our den with their bear badges.

Plus, B10 and his friend were the color guard for the meeting. Wearing the red berets were exciting! (It's amazing what the boys find cool.)

There is only two months left before the year is over and a new year begins. It's hard to believe it's gone by that quickly.
