When I woke up this morning, CW was sniffing with a cold/allergies and B10 could barely move out of bed.
Feeling like we were all pretty drained we decided to stay home from church. As the Caterpillars snuggled next to me on my chaise, CW asked for a Bible story - B10 specifically requesting the story of Jehoshaphat (II Chronicles 17-20/I Kings 22:41-50).
We read all four chapters together (they asked some pretty good questions!) and then began working on their craft (homemade puppets to tell the story of King Jehoshaphat's battle in II Chronicles 20). We have a whole host of songs to sing and B10 asked for a memory verse.
This week's verse is:
"Thank the Lord because His mercy endures forever!" ~II Chronicles 20:21b
I'll write it on a card and we'll post it in the bathroom over the sink for them to study and work on memorizing daily. It goes with our story, and is quite appropriate for Thanksgiving Week, if I do say so myself!
I am so glad to be able to spend this time with the Caterpillars. Even when I'm resting in a bed-sort-of-place, I can still share this kind of thing with them. And I always feel better when I know exactly what type of religious teaching they are getting.
