Young Astronauts' Day - Part Two

Saturday, March 28, 2009

This morning we woke up early (the Caterpillars got out of bed at 6:45 a.m.) and went down to the free breakfast.

They did a wonderful job of being happy and overall pleasant, even though it was early in the day. After breakfast we packed up and then they waited in the lobby with GO while I pulled the truck around (it was raining heavily).

We drove to the Air Base, where I loaded GO in her sling and we ran through the rain to the main hanger. I checked them into their flights, then we walked around a bit - exploring the booths set up.

The boys loved playing at this station:

Their Flight Leader was excellent and I left them in good hands as GO and I went to find some way to occupy our day.

My idea was to drive to a local state park, but the rain nixed that idea. I ended up driving to the local mall and napping for a bit, before GO decided to poo all over both of us.

I did not take a picture of the wailing baby girl when she was in my lap dressed in nothing but her fuzzy socks as I cleaned her off. I'm a good mother like that. ;)

For lunch I found a local pizza chain - which had fountain Cherry Coke (my second favorite drink in the world) and hot breadsticks.

Then GO was perfect and slept while I went to the movies and saw "Taken" (I give it 4 stars).

We headed back to base to pick them up at the end of the day, driving home in the rain (which wasn't overly bad, but not great either). B10 was thrilled when he got home to see CW and Hubby.

We finished our special day/weekend by going as a family to see "Monsters vs. Aliens" (I give it 4 stars, also). I can't wait until next year's day, when CW will be old enough to come with us!

Hey - I actually saw both those movies, and would rate them as well as you did. You know me, I hardly go to the movies, but those are the two I've chosen recently.

What a neat camp for the boys to get to experience - you're such a good mother to actively seek out things like this for them to do.

See you soon!
