Special Weekend - The Conclusion

CW and I actually woke up very early this morning, in order to drive downtown and eat breakfast with Uncle Snoopy.

Uncle Snoopy has breakfast at the same place every Saturday morning, but he was perfectly happy to eat again with us on Sunday.

GO slept quietly for most of the meal, long enough for me to savor the blueberry pancakes.

CW was fascinated by the real whipped cream that came for his hot chocolate. He kept looking at me like he thought it was dessert - and when was I going to notice and take it from him!

We highly enjoyed both the food and company. I hope we can have both again soon.

Special Weekend Continues

This morning, CW woke up early in order to play more Wii (ALL BY HIMSELF) - he's getting very good at the new cooking game.

CW asked that GO wear the outfit he picked out for her at the store yesterday.

We got dressed and headed out to our friends Mere and C's house. CW wanted to eat lunch at Chic-fil-a with them, and they were free so they gladly agreed.

(I did have a minor scare, when I was in the house latching GO in her carseat and CW let out a blood-curdling scream from the driveway. He fell on his wrist and I was scared we were going to have to take a detour to the ER, but it never became swollen or bruised.)

We all came home and took naps (YAY! - THANK YOU, C!), before CW requested that I call Cookie and Doc and invite them to eat dinner at our favorite Chinese Restaurant.

After dinner, Doc took CW to the ice cream shop for a HUGE bowl of chocolate ice cream. He ended his second day of his special weekend curled up on the sofa again, to sleep with GO and I.

This weekend each Caterpillar is getting to do something special. B10 and Hubby have headed off on the two day Cub Scout Camping Trip (for the older Cub Scouts).

CW and I are hanging out with GO and Cookie tonight. We went shopping, where CW picked out a new pair of pjs and a new stuffed puppy.

I picked out a new Wii game that CW is enjoying - along with getting to spend time playing B10's Wii game all by himself!

My favorite part of the evening was meeting Queen and Princess for dinner at our favorite hometown Pizza Parlor.

To top off the first night, CW also got to sleep on the sofa, in the room with GO and I.

I can't wait for tomorrow!

Cub Scout Camping

B10 and Hubby are going camping for two nights - it's for the older Cub Scouts, their first introduction to what will be Boy Scout Camping. They'll be gone Friday-Sunday, while CW and GO and I will have a special weekend, just the three of us.

I put B10 in charge of all the food for the weekend (2 breakfasts, 1 lunch, 1 dinner, snacks). He planned the menu, made a grocery shopping list, did all the grocery shopping himself - then prepared the food.

For breakfast he boiled eggs, premade toast and selected bacon for his meat. He also made sure to have hot chocolate and Hubby's favorite oatmeal.

For lunch he selected hot dogs, chips and salsa and raw carrots.

For dinner, he created silver turtles. This involved cutting the veggies, slicing the raw meat and adding the seasonings to the packets that would cook on the fire.

He also packed his own bag - and learned a valuable lesson in needing jackets, even when Spring looks like it's just around the corner!

Lunch Date

Auntie Queen and I were able to sneak out for a lunch date, without Boy Caterpillars in tow. Queen has been a good sport all year long on our days out, because usually she's waking up early to shuttle her kids off to school, then hanging out with me and my Caterpillars all day.

So it's always nice when we can have a couple of hours with only the littlest Caterpillar to worry about. Plus, it means she and I can have an adult conversation!

The Royal family is a part of a Boxer Rescue organization. Currently, they are fostering a boxer named Argus and today the Caterpillars were able to help Queen walk him around her neighborhood.

They had a total blast and I think Argus did, too!

To Save a Life

We only purchase Pampers for GO, for this reason alone. Sometimes it's worth it to spend money with companies that are doing the right thing, for the right reasons.

There is a Mommy Blogger who lives near me, who has actually been to the Pampers headquarters and heard from the actual employees how much they care about this cause.

I cannot bear to look at my daughter and think I could lose her over a vaccine that costs $.05! When we talked about it at the dinner table tonight, B10 immediately asked if he could send a dollar and save the lives of 20 babies.

It's really that simple. Can you spare a dollar and save 20 babies?

Service Project

Since the divorce, the Caterpillars spend every Easter with their Dad (I see them every Thanksgiving) - but they are never with me for Easter Egg Hunts and such.

This is the fourth year in a row that the Caterpillars and I have done the same Easter "service project". We find a local group that will be hosting a community Easter Egg Hunt and fill eggs for other children.

This year we are filling eggs for our own neighborhood kids. When it stops raining (on Tuesday/Wednesday) we'll walk together to the home of the neighbor in charge of the event.

It's a great way for me to connect with them and talk about the holiday, even when I won't spend the actual day with them.

Mere and C brought over dinner tonight: TACOS! We ate a wonderful meal (discussed the Braves a bit) before moving into the den to play a bit of Wii.

Mere and C have a Wii, but hadn't seen the WiiFit or any of the Lego games. Hubby introduced C to Lego Indian Jones - and we all had a blast watching.

GO slept in my arms, the Caterpillars went to be without complaining and it was a perfect night with friends.
